Annual Events & Activities

fair-beanbagtoss.jpg

Ridge Civic Association hosts or participates in several family friendly community events each year. We encourage residents to attend and strongly encourage local students to volunteer! These events are a great way to get to know your community better and earn some community service hours at the same time.

As shown below, Ridge Civic hosts Easter Bunny at the Park and the Earth Day Celebration in April as well as Santa at the Park in December. We participate in the annual Memorial Day Parade put on by Ridge Fire Department in May. And, each September at the Brookhaven Town Fair at Longwood Estate, we host a booth that features Cardboard Construction Zone, Bubble Base, Crayon Creation Station, and our Bean Bag Toss.

Meet the Easter Bunny & Easter Egg Hunt

Each April we host an Easter celebration at the Ridge Community Park. Volunteers hide candy-filled eggs throughout the park and welcome families to the event.

Children get to meet the Easter Bunny in the gazebo for a photo opp with everyone's favorite rabbit. Then they head over to the park itself to search for candy-filled eggs and play play play to run off some of that delightful sugary energy.

It's a bright, lovely way to greet spring in our community. Specific dates and times are announced in our newsletter and on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Summer Concerts

In 2022 and 2023, we co-sponsored a summer concert at Longwood Estate with Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker.

The featured band in 2022 was Longwood's own Abby Normal and in 2023 was Tradewinds.

Guests not only enjoyed fabulous free live music but also free beach balls and plenty of sun and fun on the Longwood Estate lawn.

Booth at Town of Brookhaven's Longwood Fair

Each year, we host a booth at the annual Brookhaven Town Fair at Longwood Estate, which typically takes place on the third weekend of September.

Our booth has grown substantially in recent years due to the popularity of our free family fun activities, including Cardboard Construction Zone, Bubble Base, Crayon Creation Station, and our Ridge Civic themed Bean Bag Toss.

Our booth is an especially popular event for local students (middle school through college) to volunteer for!  Volunteer hours at these annual Ridge Civic events can be used when applying for one of our two scholarships for graduating Ridge seniors.

Meet Santa at the Park & Tree Lighting

Each December, we host a Meet Santa event and we light the tree at Ridge Community Park.

The Ridge Fire Department graciously strings the tree for us, we decorate the gazebo, and provide treats for children who come to share their gift wishes with Santa. Specific dates and times are announced in our newsletter and on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
